Brendan M. Dakari

Sr. User Experience Designer & Creative Strategist

Professional Summary

Senior UX/UI Designer with 12+ years of hands-on experience transforming business objectives and complex data into compelling, hand-crafted user experiences. I’m adept at visualizing an experience in the abstract and driving that vision through all stages of development into a well-engineered, tangible, branded digital solution or product. I enjoy working directly with developers in testing and deploying code, and I’m well versed in communicating and negotiating with business and product teams. My professional experience spans a variety of industries and product offerings in which I’ve been able to employ a range of user-centered research, requirements development, digital strategy, UX architectural planning, and both visual design & typographic skills.

    Professional Experience

  • Sr. UX/UI Consultant, Creative Strategist & Owner

    Fresh-Off 2001 – Present

My freelance clientele has ranged from Fortune 100 companies to local startups who have trusted me to translate their visions and goals into powerful and extraordinary user experiences, evolve their web presence and strategy, develop corporate identities and architect digital products from ideation to execution. I also provide clients with print collateral, photography, illustration and creative direction.

    Clients include:
    • Amazon Search Experience Team (2014):
Contracted with the SX Team to move through a variety of projects in their backlog including exploratory designs, wireframing, feature optimization, global asset migration & management, production work, creating redline documentation, UI design, and interactive prototype development for AB testing and eye-tracking studies.
    • Premera Blue Cross (2014):
Led UX design for an enterprise examination room mobile app allowing doctors to view, sort and parse data for individual & large population sets of patients. Created data realistic comps for the product team and worked with the engineers to develop the beta release. Deliverables included IxD, responsive HTML/CSS/LESS/Javascript, and visual design.
    • Lifewise Washington (2011):
Led Interface & Visual Design for a “MOVE ON” web campaign. During stakeholder meetings I gathered requirements; developed personas, user journeys, interaction models, and wireframes; worked directly with engineering team to implement design solutions.
    • Microsoft “WWSMM – FY11” (2010):
Designed the ‘World Wide Subsidiary Managers Memos’ intranet site, for COO, Kevin Turner. Revised and simplified existing overly complex interface, worked with developers to implement Silverlight UI features, increasing usability, intuitiveness and ease of navigation.
    • Premera Blue Cross (2010):
I was the lead UI and Visual Designer for an experimental enterprise benefits management app named “The Benefits Place.” Using personas, user scenarios, wireframes, CSS, and role based access I created a compelling, user-friendly interface that incorporated existing brand concepts into its look and identity.
    • Dada/Sony BMG (2009):
Conceptualized and designed ads and interfaces to drive customer sign up and subscriptions. Working with the Creative Director, I translated marketing copy into compelling, interactive experiences. Deliverables included interface design, visual design, flash design, HTML/CSS.
    • Starbucks (2009):
Provided Information Architecture, User Experience, Front-end Development and Content Management System Consulting for an intranet site that aggregated, managed, and cataloged searchable CAD specification PDFs for in-store equipment.
    • Elite Club Car (2006):
Designed and developed all web and print marketing materials. The Elite ‘Booking Interface’, visual design, and branding created were credited by Elite’s CEO for directly attracting in excess of $35k in new business in a single quarter.
